finished rebar, now we just gotta get plumbing all glued up!

today we used duanes surveying equipment and found out there is over six inches too much dirt in the deep end. lots of digging needed tomorrow.

my friend steve put up a little spot on his page about the lost bowl. oh yeah, i forgot to mention it has a name! when you come here you will understand why it's called the lost bowl.

2,750 feet of rebar got delivered.

starting the rebar, hopefully tomorrow i can show a picture of it done.

been spending a bunch of days shaping and everything is really starting to look good. trying to shoot concrete next thurs. if weather permits. that will be one day less than four weeks from breaking ground. not too bad, for all the rain we had and only having one guy with any real experience.

shaping.

we are now shaping using templates of the concrete. one side of the bowl was dug out a little too far so we use wood at the top as a backing for the crete. the other side will just be backed by the dirt wall.

old drain field.

in the deep end we have old pipes from a septic tank drain field. we are gonna pack dirt over them so the city inspector doesn't see them. then the day of the shoot we are gonna blast a little concrete in each.

top plate in.

so we drove alot of stakes, and my friend duane came over with his fancy schmancy leveling/survey equipment. we went around and marked level on all the stakes and then added two by threes. then we put the plate in and pullend and twisted til it was perfect. this was alot harder than you think.

i have enough money to make it through the pour. i need to raise funds for coping, tile, decks, and plaster. so, im gonna do a funraiser for one month.
this build will be a dual purpose 100% diy build. we will be swimming in the summer and skating the rest of the year. all of you are invited to skate, swim, or hangout when done.

DRAWING WILL BE OCT 30TH!!!! i will not be pulling the winning tickets. i will find someone impartial.

and we got a shitload of rain. boo!!!

we are shaped up pretty good now. this is a pic with a fisheye of the whole thing with the top plate hanging beside it. tomorrow we are gonna drive tons of stakes around the edge to suspend and level the top plate in place.

at the end of day three we are to depth and roughly shaped. here is a deep end template hanging out.

after two days of digging we are getting a few feet from the depth. here is travis, brad, mark and me at the end of day two.

sooo, we have broken ground. i rented a bobcat mini excavator for a week. we cut out the shape of the pool out of 3/4 plywood. we made it 6 inches wide. we staked and flagged off the outside of the wood and started digging.
